Contemporary Music, Classical Instruments

I watched the NZTrio perform last night at the Auckland Museum. It was my first experience with NZ chamber music and, to be honest, contemporary “classical” music in general.

I feel live musical performances are so rewarding, even when I am simply the perceiver. I am glad I was able to be there on the front row to watch these professional musicians produce beautiful sounds. And let’s face it, for the degree of proficiency that those instruments require, that is the only way I will ever enjoy this music.

Not to say that I am not considering learning to play a classical instrument 🙂 That’s on my post-thesis to-do list!
